On Friday, June 4th, Worcester Police Officer Enmanuel “Manny” Familia responded to a call for the report for people struggling to stay afloat in Green Hill Pond. Without hesitation Officer Familia along with 4 other officers jumped in to save the children. Officers were able to save 2 of the 3 children. Upon getting back to shore, officers noticed that Officer Familia had not yet resurfaced. Unfortunately, Officer Familia and a 14-year-old boy died tragically. Officer Familia was a 5-year veteran of the Worcester Police Department and leaves behind his wife and two children.
We are immediately starting to raise funds and will be hosting an on-air fundraiser throughout WEEI’s The Greg Hill Show on Monday, June 7th for the families of Officer Familia and the 14-year-old boy. Please consider making a donation to support these families in their time of need.

Charlie Capalbo, 23 year old former standout Fairfield CT hockey goalie, has been diagnosed with cancer for the third time. After having beaten lymphoma and leukemia, he is now preparing to face off with leukemia again.
Charlie and his parents, brother, family and friends have been warriors, wingmen, and unbelievably strong through the last 4 plus years. But he’s going to need an army of support to get through this one. COVID-19 is only making a difficult time worse. Charlie’s dad Anthony lost his job at the beginning of COVID, and is just getting his new real estate career off the ground. His mom, Jen, has been working per diem but now that is on hold.
Starting on Friday, May 28th, we will be holding a fundraiser for Charlie and his family. Boston Bruins Goalie, Tuukka Rask has committed to matching all donations up to $20,000 and The Greg Hill Foundation will too. Please consider making a donation to support Charlie and his family in their time of need.

Throughout 2021, The Greg Hill Foundation will be celebrating 10 years of giving by going “Beyond The Cause” and taking an in depth look at some of the individuals and families who the foundation has been able to support. This year long fundraising campaign will showcase just how important donations from the foundation have been for our beneficiaries and seek to raise $1,000,000 to support even more in the future.
Every $5,000 raised is a new matching donation for a future beneficiary. Help us continue to help others by making a donation today!

On Tuesday, December 22nd, just a few days before Christmas, a fire broke out at a home in Scarborough, Maine. Firefighters from Scarborough, Saco, Biddeford, Hollis, Gorham, Buxton, Westbrook, and Portland responded, but the fire swept through the two-story home causing extensive damage. The fire has left Kevin Cashman, a Lieutenant in the Portland Police Department, his wife, and three daughters, ages 19, 18, and 14, living in a hotel this holiday season. In addition to the loss of their home, most of their possessions were destroyed and they are currently trying to secure long-term rental housing.
We held a fundraiser for the Cashman Family and matched donations up to $2,500. Including our match, we were able to donate $41,919 to the Cashman Family. Thank you to everyone who donated and allowed us to help the Cashman Family in their time of need.

Kimberly Gunner and Andy Colbert were out for their routine evening stroll near downtown Natick on the evening of Tuesday August 18th when a blue pickup truck jumped the curb and ran them over, driving them into a wooden fence. A piece of the wood from the fence impaled Kimberly through the chest. In the haste to flee the scene, the driver of the truck backed over Kimberly, crushing both of her legs, and took off at a high rate of speed. They were both med-flighted to nearby trauma centers. At this time it is still unclear as to whether the medical team will be able to save both of her legs.
Due to our donors tremendous support, we were able to make a total donation of $15,741 to Kimberly Gunner and Andy Colbert. Thank you for your support and for helping us help others.
