Karen Solomon

Karen Solomon has fought tirelessly for first responders. She is the creator of www.1sthelp.net and the author of Hearts Beneath the Badge and The Price They Pay as well as many articles about law enforcement suicide. Karen grew the Blue H.E.L.P. program with her own blood, sweat and tears where she and the group then broadened the scope over the years to include all first responders. In 2016, she saw something that was needed within the departments, how families of suicide were treated and wanted change.

Karen is currently the CFO of First H.E.L.P. whose mission is treduce mental health stigma for First Responders through education, advocating for benefits for those suffering from post-traumatic stress, acknowledging the service and sacrifice of First Responders lost to suicide, assisting officers in their search for healing, and bringing awareness to suicide and mental health issues.

Each year, First H.E.L.P. provides the families of first responders lost to suicide a weekend for them to heal, honor and form lasting relationships. Through fundraising, they receive free lodging, travel, meals and gifts while enjoying much needed time together. This year’s Annual Honor Dinner is from August 9th through 13th in Grapevine, Texas where it costs $3,420 to bring a family of three.
