Tom Leone
& Boston Sparks Association

For over 20 years, Tom has been a driving force behind The Boston Sparks Association’s A-10 Rehab and Canteen Service, which provides critical support at large fire and police incidents across the region. Responding to over 200 emergency calls annually, often at a moment’s notice, the A-10 team ensures that first responders have the nourishment, hydration, and support they need during grueling operations. Tom has been instrumental in shaping this high-quality service from its inception, establishing its reputation as a trusted partner on the fireground.

In addition to his operational leadership, Tom serves as the Treasurer of the Boston Sparks Association. He successfully balances this role with a full-time job, his responsibilities as a devoted husband to Michelle and father to Gianna, a Northeastern University student, and his involvement with the Last Call Foundation’s Charity Team. On Saturdays leading up to the Boston Marathon, Tom ensures the Foundation’s runners are well-hydrated, exemplifying his dedication to community service.

Tom’s contributions extend beyond the fireground. He has been instrumental in securing funding through the Community Preservation Committee for much-needed improvements to the Association’s aging firehouse on Congress Street, home to the Boston Fire Museum. This work ensures that the history and legacy of Boston’s fire service will continue to inspire future generations.

Earlier this year, Tom faced a significant health challenge when he unexpectedly required a quadruple bypass. Despite this setback, his passion for service never wavered. True to his resilient nature, Tom returned to the field as soon as he was able, resuming his remarkable record of responding to over 80% of calls year after year. His commitment to the Boston Fire Department, his home city, is unmatched—Tom hasn’t missed a fire in Boston in over two decades.

Known for his strong coffee, his attention to detail, and his steadfast presence on the scene, Tom is always the last to leave an incident, ensuring every firefighter and police officer has what they need to carry out their duties. Under his leadership as Crew Chief, the A-10 team has fostered a spirit of camaraderie and dependability, responding to calls 24/7, in any weather condition.

Tom Leone’s legacy of sacrifice, hard work, and leadership has set the standard for service in our community. He has given up countless holidays and personal time to be there for others, leading by example and inspiring his team to do the same. His dedication to the Greater Boston area’s first responders will have a lasting impact for years to come.

On Friday, July 14th, Chick-fil-A and The Greg Hill Foundation awarded Tom as a Chick-fil-A Community Hero. He was awarded a Chick-fil-A prize pack including Chick-fil-A for one year and $1,500 to the Boston Sparks Association.
