On the morning of Sunday, December 9th Worcester Firefighter, Christopher Roy died while battling a raging, five-alarm blaze that broke out in a Worcester apartment building.

Crews responding to a reported fire in a multi-family home on Lowell Street around 4 a.m. found dense black smoke pouring from the windows and flames shooting out of the second and third floor.

36-year-old Christopher Roy, became trapped on the second floor was later pronounced dead, according to Fire Chief Michael Lavoie. “December has proven to be the cruelest month of the year for the Worcester Fire Department,” Mayor Joseph Petty said.

Roy has been with the Worcester Fire Department for two and a half years where he worked out of the Webster Square station. He leaves behind an 8-year-old daughter.

On Monday, December 10th we will be holding an on air fundraiser for Firefighter Christopher Roy’s family and the residents who were displaced by the fire. We will be matching all donations up to $10,000. Please consider making a donation to help these families in their time of need.

On Thursday, August 9th, 2018, the Weymouth Community will be hosting Comedy Night at the Weymouth Elks in honor of the late Vera Adams and Officer Michael Chesna. Comics Jerry Thornton, Graig Murphy, Nick Stevens, Bob Niles, and Matty Blake will be performing, hosted by Michael Brooks. All proceeds will go to the Chesna Family and to causes close to Vera Adams. Doors will open at 7 PM and the show will start at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $35 and are limited, no tickets will be sold at the door.
